Interesting sharing--how to make sunglasses

First, let's introduce the composition of glasses: lens + frame + temple. I really am a crowd-funding author... This time we are introducing handcraft. Because I got from a lot of assembly lines, the color and shape of the glasses that appear will be somewhat different, and the content is super.

Cut out the frame

Before cutting the plastic sheet, we will heat it up, which can improve the ductility of the material. Then press with a steel plate knife to cut out the rough outline shape of the frame on the plate.

Then follow the inner curve to cut out the inner frame.

Cut out grooves

Continue to work on the inner frame to create grooves for the spectacle lenses.

Maybe you don't understand how this knife cuts, so I'll change the animation: use a blade like the one in the picture below in the frame, and the grooves cut out can be used to hold the spectacle lenses in the back.

Three-dimensional cutting

Ignore the lens distortion in the picture below, I didn't find any better video data, let's watch it! After continuing to cut out the outside of the glasses, it needs to be transferred to another cutting machine. According to the model master, the three-dimensional shape of the bridge of the nose is cut out. This principle follows us to match the key, the master will use your original key as the master, the machine used is a meaning~

Polished frame

Now put the frame into the roller filled with sanding stones and rotate, polishing, and polishing steps.

Take out the edge of the frame and touch it to see if it feels rough and thorny.

Make temples

The temples are also made of plastic plates, so the production at the beginning is the same as the frame: first heat the plate, then cut a knife to blank, and the temples come out. Pay attention to the water droplets on the material board, this is just soaked in hot water.

After cutting out the outline, we have to reheat the temples to insert the steel wire core as the backbone of the temples. Of course, it depends on the power of the machine to perform miracles.

Frame with temples

Insert the connector on the edge of the frame and screw it together with the connector on the temple.

The production of temples and frames has come to an end, and now it is the most important step for us to make sunglasses so that the core of sunglasses is different from other glasses - the production of sunglasses lenses!

Pressed lens

We have introduced the raw materials and production process of glass in great detail before. The production of sunglasses is similar, but the above-mentioned glass raw material powder is added with a colorant compound. The dark sunglasses made in this way can absorb more light and reduce the intensity of sunlight.

The shearing machine first cuts a section of high-temperature molten glass, which is the main body of the lens.

A pressing mold pressed the small round cake into an arc-shaped lens.

Chemical treatment

The lens is sent for chemical treatment, and a metal coating is applied to the outside of the lens through ion replacement.

Contour cutting

Then the processed lenses will be sent to make the final shape, that is, to fit the frame of your choice. Different frames have different profiles.

However, many lens cutting machines do not show so many beating knives in the animation above but continue to make up the master with keys like the picture below... The white one on the left is a lens outline mold, the mold and the lens to be cut ( The transparent one in the center of the picture below) pass through a linkage mechanism. When you move the knife along the mold on one side, the mechanism is linked to the other side, and the knife head cuts the lens according to this trajectory. We have also introduced this linkage mechanism in detail before~

Taking the grinding wheel as the main body, we will demonstrate from another angle to see how the lens is cut into a specific contour.

Mirror coating

Some lenses also have a reflective coating on the outer surface, which is a bit like protecting the eyes by coating the lenses with a mirror that reflects sunlight. However, unlike the silver plating made of mirrors, this coating is relatively sparse, so it is also called semi-silver plating.

Into the lens

I was curious about how the lenses were stuffed into the plastic frame in the factory. I checked and found that they were directly inserted into it! First, put one side of the spectacle lens into the side groove of the nose bridge of the frame, and then slightly heated, the frame will have ductility. As soon as the outside force is applied, the lens can be directly inserted into the frame... Except for slight heating, this is no different from changing the lens by ourselves. I think too much.

So, I don't know if there is a cute feeling that after the merchant assembles the sunglasses for you at the back of the store when you get them, you find that the glasses you just bought are a little hot?

etc! I have more to say...

I didn't wear sunglasses before until I went to the beach to shoot something... It's so hot, I won't say it, it's really good, the sun is so dazzling, my small eyes can't stand it no matter how much light I get, Only then did I discover that sunglasses and "sunscreen" are really good assistants for human beings to resist the strong outdoor sun!

I deeply feel that it turns out that friends wearing sunglasses is not just for being cool, it is really useful... The clown is actually me.
